Our Weekend

September, where are you going?! This last weekend was so fun, I feel like we are squeezing in every last bit of fun while the weather is still nice.  Boise can be so hit and miss when it comes to weather so I will take this warm streak as long as I can!  I'm sure any day now it will drop to like 30 and we won't see the sun for 6 months!

I picked up Blake's littlest siblings on Saturday to have them spend the afternoon with me but when Blake got home he had us all jump in the car and go to a cute sushi bar, the kind where the sushi floats by on boats and you grab the ones that look best to you.  We've been there a few times and it is so fun and different.  Especially since it's a tiny room and kind of a hole-in-the-wall type of place it makes me feel like we found this great, secret place in our "big" city.  The kids stayed the night with us so they could join us for church, where we met up with Blake's sister and her fiancĂ©.

We last minute, on Sunday, invited a huge group of friends and packed the boat and some jet skis for one last hurrah!  I know, I keep saying this is our last time.. and I have been pleasantly surprised each time we go out again.. but I think this really was our last time!  But, that evening we decided to go watch the blood moon/super moon from the hot springs in the mountains and it was a dream!! I wish so badly I had brought a camera!  It was the perfect way to wind down into fall.

Blake was out of town ALL day today and over the weekend, and I am going crazy and missing him so much!! It actually amazes me that I can even miss him even more than I think I will!  He is on a  plane on the way home now and I am supposed to be picking him up soon so I am hoping that writing this will keep my eyes open!

My little sister and I are only two years apart so growing up we were always so close.  Looking through old pictures we literally did absolutely everything together!  But time goes on and things change and my sister and I have grown more and more apart over the last few years.. not in a bad way.. but we only live 15 minutes from each other and she hadn't seen my house since we bought it.. 2 years ago.  So tonight we finally went on a sister date and had SUCH a great night together.  Sisterly love is so fun and sweet and encouraging! I feel like I can just speak whatever comes to mind and it is so easy and natural with a sister.. and isn't she beautiful?!  She truly is a beautiful person, I don't want to miss out on anymore of her!  No more of this two years without being to my house nonsense.

Sorry if this is a bit blah blah blah.. but I am so sleepy and I am trying so hard to keep my eyes open! But I think it's about time to hop in the car and go get my handsome!

Good night lovelies.

Summer Flashback

This is a bit of a throwback to earlier this summer when we took our two little fur babies up to the lake!  When we got the pontoon boat earlier this year one of my first thoughts was how fun would that be to take our pups with us to the lake.. "they would love it" I thought!  So I jumped on Amazon and ordered these doggie life jackets asap, which I thought we literally the cutest things ever!

So we loaded them up in the truck and drove up to the lake.  We got them safe in their jackets and off we went in the boat.  We weren't sure how the would do actually swimming, so before going all in so we went and docked by a little beach where they could run around and play in the little waves.  They LOVED this part, they were chasing each other and jumping all around.  And it was so cute, they would only run about a hundred feet from us before coming sprinting back to our feet.  It was adorable!  They were doing so well and having so much fun, we decided to take them to actually swim with us. I guess in my head I pictured them swimming around in their darling life jackets, playing with us, licking us, happy as could be.  Let me tell you, that was not the case haha!  We got to the middle of the lake and Blake put them both in the water and jumped in with them. They absolutely hated it, they hated it so much that they decided Bake must be there to save them and be like a safety island and they were scratching him, trying to climb on him, scratching the boat.  It was a disaster.  Blake finally got them to the ladder and I pulled them out, but there were wanting nothing to do with swimming.  So.. lesson learned.  Our babies hate swimming with a passion.  I felt so bad, I thought all dogs loved swimming!! And obviously they were safe and had safety jackets on and Blake was with them but it was so sad to see them so sad!  So we dried them off and cuddled them and gave them lots of kisses and they were perfectly happy to curl up and cuddle the rest of the night!

Going through summer pictures this morning and I am not ready to let it end!  This summer has been our best one yet! Blake is out of town on a work trip this weekend and I am missing him like crazy!  I can't wait to have him back and cozy with me!!  I hope everyone is having a great week!

Payette Lake

This weekend we decided that we wanted to go back to McCall with the boat to spend some time on the lake!  The lake is so green and gorgeous, and I love looking at all the beautiful houses on the shore.

This is the same little, adorable town we spent Labor Day in, but this time we went back with my parents.  There is a mountain biking area there that is so much fun, when we were there last week I told Blake how much I would love to go back with my parents and it just worked out that we could this weekend.  The other thing I LOVE about having my parents with me is having my mom there to take pictures, she is so fun to be with!  She also made me go tubing with her behind the boat which of course was way more fun that I thought it would be!

We had such a fun weekend, but even more exciting is that my sister-in-law got engaged in New York City to her sweet fiancĂ©!!  I literally could not be more excited for them!! So, we will have a wedding in the near future! YAY!!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Much love - Angela

Banana Bread

This blog is still a baby and really, it is about our life and things I love which includes baking!  So, you may start to see some recipes and cooking posts occasionally!  Banana bread is one of those things that we both used to LOVE growing up.  My husband's mom used to make it for him and my mom for me, and they both always did it the same way.. full of chocolate chips.  So, of course, there is no other way for us!  This recipe is the same one I have always used and we love it.

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

3 bananas (when we have extras we don't eat we put them in the freezer and use those)

1 tablespoon milk

1 teaspoon cinnamon (I want to try using pumpkin pie spice too)

1/2 cup softened butter

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 big cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Grease a 9 x 5 loaf pan, or two smaller ones, or muffins, whichever you prefer.

BOWL 1 - Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt
BOWL 2 - Bananas, milk, cinnamon - mix until smooth
BOWL 3 - Beat butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.  Add the eggs and beat until smooth again.

Stir banana bowl into the butter bowl.  Slowly add flour to the banana/butter bowl.  Once your have a smooth mixture gently add in your chocolate chips!  Pour mix into prepared pan.

Bake until a toothpick comes out clean, about 70-80 minutes (for a 9 x 5 glass pan, adjust according to your pan or muffins).  Let cool for about 10 minutes and enjoy!!

I would love to hear what you think about getting recipes on my blog - yay or nay?!

Labor Day Weekend

Looking at all of these pictures together they look completely random and all over the place, but this was all one day!! Yes, we went from snow to the forest to the lake within hours.. welcome to Idaho.

We spent Sunday up in McCall which is about two hours outside of Boise and is a little resort town on the lake!  Over holiday weekends it is packed with everyone out having fun, which makes it so happy and upbeat.  Our original plan was actually to take our bikes with us and go mountain biking with a few friends at a ski resort called Brundage.  On a side note to explain our thinking.. during the summer they use the ski lifts to ride you and your bike to the top of the mountain, then you get to do the whole downhill part minus the uphill, hard part!  It sounded so fun! But.. when we got to the resort it was covered in snow!  haha. We had not really counted that into our plan.  So we took the lift  without our bikes and walked around and looked at the gorgeous valley.

Then, on our way back, we found some biking trails at the foot of the mountain and rode through the trees for a few hours.  I want to go back to that bike park, it was so beautiful and definitely my favorite mountain biking trails I've been on so far.

After a dinner on the lake we went to the hot springs to relax and soak.  I could literally sit in hot springs every night.  It was a long day but oh so fun!

Tomorrow I have off and am hoping to get caught up on a few things! Hopefully we see that happen :)

Hope everyone had a GREAT labor day weekend.  Would love to hear what you did!
